Sunshine Coast University Hospital PPP, QLD

The Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) is the first hospital to be delivered by Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Queensland, and the first new hospital delivered in Australia for 20 years. To meet the needs of the rapidly growing Sunshine Coast region, the Queensland Government allocated $1.8b to construct a new tertiary teaching hospital.

TSA Advisory was appointed by QLD Health to undertake the roles of Transaction Director, Transaction Manager and Technical Director throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities included:

  • Leading the preliminary assessment to capture and understand requirements.
  • Full transaction management services for the Exemplar Health consortium public-private partnership (PPP).

TSA Advisory went on to lead the mobilisation of the PPP, transitioning into the roles of Executive Project Director and Contracts Manager from financial close to delivery. The SCUH opened in early 2017 and took its first patients in May. As a hospital and teaching facility, it services all parts of the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions.
