Executive Wing, level 3 fitout

The Executive Wing (the Beehive) is one of the country’s most recognisable, significant and operationally sensitive buildings.

This project transformed a former hospitality floor into three ministerial suites designed to support daily operations and formal functions. The design incorporates accessibility improvements, restores more than 1,000 original heritage timber battens, and integrates natural materials including wool and Southland beech. Reception spaces feature cultural design elements co-designed with mana whenua.

TSA Riley provided project management support and Engineer to Contract services, including procurement and evaluation, alongside contract administration for the fit-out works.

Maintaining ongoing parliamentary activities while navigating strict access and security protocols required careful planning and coordination throughout delivery. The team balanced the building’s heritage significance with the need to adapt the space for its new purpose.

The project was successfully completed on programme and within budget, delivering functional, well-resolved spaces to support government operations.

The project has received multiple industry awards, including:
