Systems Engineering and Assurance services

We provide independent safety assessments and expert judgement in the interpretation and application of industry standards. Our systems engineering, and software engineering specialties include:
Project safety engineering and management services, for safety and mission-critical systems. We help organisations with all aspects of systems assurance for high-integrity systems, including safety cases, reliability reports, verification and validation, quality management and configuration management. We help organisations plan and execute their system safety programmes to achieve accreditation.
TSA Riley provides services in Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) engineering and management, providing analysis of critical systems, determination of targets and strategies, and performance demonstration. We develop tailored RAM strategies and plans, and reliability modelling and analysis, for operators and suppliers.
We help organisations with all aspects of systems engineering, especially for software-intensive systems. This includes systems engineering planning, requirements engineering, system design and verification and validation.
TSA Riley conducts independent professional reviews to arrive at a judgement on the adequacy of the system / functional safety achieved by the Item Under Consideration (IUC) or its level of compliance to relevant standards. These professional reviews include the provision of expert advice and the conduct of independent safety and software assessments, especially in accordance with CENELEC EN 50126/8/9, Yellow Book, IEC 61508 or Def (Aust) 5679.
We develop and deliver products and systems in the high-integrity systems area too. Our team has hands-on experience in software, signalling and systems development for high-integrity systems. 'RGB Assurance', who joined TSA Riley in 2025 were one of the first companies in Australia to obtain an 'Advance Finding' under Section 28A of the Industry Research and Development Act 1986 with respect to a product to improve safety at railway level crossings.
We can design bespoke training for industry in the areas of systems assurance, particularly for system safety management, rail safety, and engineering for high-integrity software-intensive systems.
We specialise in Human Factors planning and assessment and in the analysis and design of human-machine interfaces, and we can provide practical expert advice in the area of Human Factors.
Our Project Consultants have experience analysing large data sets to identify risk trends. We developed the Australian Rail Risk Model (ARRM) and have applied machine learning, vision processing, and artificial intelligence (AI) to assist industry and government agencies in identifying and quantifying risk.
Our subject matter experts provide Information and Communications Technology (ICT) security services for high-integrity systems, including ICT security risk assessments and development / monitoring of ICT security plans.
